Nicholas R. Thompson, “The Bed Bug Barrister”, serves as Principal and Managing Partner of RTRLAW and is licensed to practice law in Florida, Texas, Massachusetts, and Michigan. As the founder of The Bed Bug Barrister, Mr. Thompson has developed a focused national initiative dedicated to representing victims of negligent bed bug infestations in hotels, apartment complexes, short-term rentals, nursing homes, and other residential and commercial properties.

While maintaining a full caseload, Mr. Thompson has been the driving force behind the firm’s expansion across multiple states, building highly successful offices staffed with experienced attorneys, paralegals, and fully bilingual support teams. Under his leadership, the firm has invested heavily in advanced case management systems, investigation technology, and digital intake platforms, ensuring that every office operates seamlessly and that clients nationwide receive the same high level of service and advocacy.

Recognizing that bed bug cases are often overlooked or undervalued by many law firms, Mr. Thompson created The Bed Bug Barrister to bring focused attention to the unique legal, medical, and evidentiary challenges these cases present. Mr. Thompson received his undergraduate degree from Florida State University and earned his Juris Doctor from Nova Southeastern University Law School. He was admitted to The Florida Bar in 2005 and has since built a multi-state personal injury practice dedicated to protecting individuals and families during some of the most difficult moments of their lives.

Originally from a small town near Rochester, New York, Mr. Thompson was raised in a close-knit farming community where hard work, resilience, and personal accountability were foundational values. That upbringing instilled in him both the tenacity required to challenge large insurance carriers and corporate defendants, and the compassion necessary to guide clients through stressful and often traumatic circumstances. His leadership, vision, and litigation experience have played a central role in the continued growth and success of the firm.

Mr. Thompson is a member of The Florida Bar, The State Bar of Texas, The State Bar of Michigan, The State Bar of Massachusetts, the Academy of Florida Trial Lawyers, the American Bar Association, and numerous community and legal organizations.
